Protect focus time

Put focus time on your calendar as a busy event, and SavvyCal won't offer that time on any of your links. Then keep the rest of your week from filling up: batch meetings together with Highlight preferred times, cap meetings per day with frequency limits, and add buffers so meetings don't run back to back.

Everything in this guide is on every plan that includes scheduling links, starting with Basic.

How do I block focus time?

Add it to a calendar SavvyCal checks as an event marked busy. Busy events block that time on all of your links. Events marked free and invites you've declined don't. For a regular block, make it a recurring event.

Google Calendar's Focus time events count the same way: they block when they're marked busy. See How SavvyCal decides when you're busy.

Can I only offer meeting hours, and keep the rest free?

Yes. Make a schedule with just the hours you want to meet, such as Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and use it on your links. See Availability schedules.

If you plan your week in your calendar, use time blocks instead: specially named events on your calendar mark when you're open for meetings. See Time blocks to define availability.

How do I keep meetings together instead of scattered?

Turn on Highlight preferred times on a link and choose Batch meetings together. Times close to your existing meetings are marked "Best", which leaves longer stretches free. People still see all your open times.

The setting appears when the organizer is the only required attendee with a SavvyCal account. See Highlight preferred times.

How do I cap how many meetings I take?

Add a frequency limit, such as 3 meetings per day. You can set one on a link, or across all your links in Settings > Links. See Frequency limits.

How do I avoid back-to-back meetings?

Add buffers, so SavvyCal keeps time free before and after each meeting. See Add buffer time between meetings.

How do I stop last-minute meetings from breaking up my day?

Set a minimum notice, such as 24 hours, so nobody can book a time that's coming up soon. See Prevent last-minute bookings.
