Scheduling links

Duplicating and renaming links

To copy a link, open the three-dots menu next to it on the Scheduling Links page and click Duplicate.... The copy keeps the original's settings, people, and rules, and gets its own URL. It's hidden from your profile page and ready to take bookings right away.

Be careful when you change a link's URL. The old URL stops working right away, and SavvyCal doesn't redirect it. Changing your username or a team's URL is different: old savvycal.com links redirect to the new one.

How do I duplicate a link?

  1. On the Scheduling Links page, click the three-dots menu on the link's row and click Duplicate.... You can also open the link and use the three-dots menu in the top bar.
  2. In Duplicate your link, check the details:
    • Link Title starts as the original's title. This is the name schedulers see.
    • Link URL is filled in for you from the title, with a number added if that URL is taken, like intro-call-2. Changing the title suggests a new URL.
    • Private Name (Recommended) starts as the original's private name with "(copy)" added. If the original has no private name, it starts empty.
  3. Click Duplicate scheduling link.

SavvyCal opens the new link in the editor so you can make your changes.

You can duplicate any link you can edit. The copy belongs to the same username or team as the original.

You can also ask a connected AI assistant to duplicate a link.

What does the copy include?

Almost everything about the original link:

  • Settings: durations, buffers, minimum notice, increments, how far out people can book, fixed date ranges, frequency limits, approval, the event name and details, booking page options, the confirmation page, and whether schedulers can reschedule, cancel, or add guests.
  • The link type: one-on-one, collective, round robin, or group, and whether it's single-use.
  • People: every attendee, with their organizer, optional, and round robin settings. Email-only attendees are copied too.
  • Availability: each person's schedules and availability settings. Saved schedules are shared, so a change to one applies to both links. A custom schedule is copied, so you can change it on the copy without touching the original. See Availability schedules.
  • Overrides: any availability overrides set on the link.
  • Locations: each person's meeting locations.
  • Calendar: each person's calendar under Calendar Invitations.
  • Questions: your custom questions and prefilled values.
  • Payments and apps: payment settings and the apps on the link, such as HubSpot or Slack.
  • Workflows: the copy uses the same workflows as the original. They aren't separate copies, so editing a workflow changes it for both links.

A few things can get left off the copy:

  • If a person's calendar can no longer be written to, their copy has "No calendar selected". If their location was Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, that location is removed too.
  • An email attendee whose address is no longer allowed, such as a blocked domain, isn't copied.
  • An app or payment setting that can't be set up again is skipped.

After duplicating, check Calendar Invitations, Location/Conferencing, and Automation on the copy before you share it.

What isn't copied?

  • The URL. The copy gets its own.
  • Profile page visibility. The copy is never shown on your profile page, even if the original is. To show it, open your profile page and click Customize visible links.
  • The status. The copy is active even if the original is disabled or archived. If the username or team isn't on a Basic or Premium plan (or a trial), the copy starts as Pending, like any new link.
  • Events and analytics. Bookings and traffic stay with the original.

Can I use a link as a template?

Yes. Set up a link the way you like, then duplicate it each time you need a new one. Since the copy's status doesn't come from the original, you can disable or archive the template link so no one books it, and copies still start active. See Cleaning up your scheduling links.

This also works for single-use links. A single-use link is archived after someone books it, but a copy of it is a fresh single-use link that's ready to share.

What's the difference between the title and the private name?

  • The title (Link Title) is public. Schedulers see it at the top of your booking page and on your profile page.
  • The private name is only shown inside SavvyCal, to you and anyone else who can see the link. It never appears on your booking page. When a link has one, SavvyCal shows it instead of the title on the Scheduling Links page, at the top of the link editor, and in your events list.

A private name helps when several links share a title. For example, two links could both be titled "Intro Call" for schedulers but have the private names "Intro Call (Sales)" and "Intro Call (Partners)".

To set or change it, open the link and click the name at the top of the page. It says "Add a private name" if there isn't one yet. Enter a Private name and click Save.

How do I change a link's title or URL?

  1. Open the link and click its title at the top of the editor.
  2. Change the Link Title, Description, or URL. The full address is shown under the URL field.
  3. Click Save.

A link's URL can use letters, numbers, and dashes, and must start with a letter or number. It has to be different from the URL of every other link under the same username or team, including archived links. A deleted link's URL is free to use again.

What happens to the old URL when I change a link's URL?

The old URL stops working as soon as you save. Anyone who visits it gets a "Page Not Found" error. SavvyCal doesn't redirect it to the new URL, and it doesn't warn you before you save.

The old URL is also free for another link under the same username or team to use.

So after you change a link's URL:

  • Update anywhere you shared it, like your email signature, website, or saved replies.
  • Update your embed code. Embeds point to the link's URL, so an embed with the old URL stops working.
  • Booked events aren't affected. The reschedule and cancel links in confirmation emails and calendar invites point to the event, not the link's URL, so they keep working.

If people already have the old URL, consider duplicating the link with the new URL instead, then disabling the old one once traffic moves over.

What happens to my links when I change my username or team URL?

Old URLs on savvycal.com keep working. When you change your username or a team's URL, SavvyCal remembers the old one and redirects it to the new one. That covers your profile page and every link under it, so savvycal.com/old-name/intro-call goes to savvycal.com/new-name/intro-call, and any query string comes along. Link URLs themselves don't change.

A few things to know:

  • Your old username is released. Someone else can claim it. If they do, the redirect stops and the old URLs go to their page instead. Update the places you've shared your links soon after you change it.
  • Custom domains don't redirect. If your links are on a custom domain and you change the path there, old URLs on that domain stop working.
  • Embeds: update the link value in your embed code to the new username or team URL.

To change your username, go to Settings > Profile, click the edit button next to My URL, enter the new URL, and click Save.

To change a team's URL, go to the Teams page and open the team. Under Team Profile, click the edit button next to Team URL, enter the new URL, and click Save. Team owners and admins can do this. See Team and organization roles.

To move your username to another organization without changing it, see Transferring your username to a different organization.

Can I move a link between my username and a team?

No. A link stays under the username or team it was created under, and duplicating it keeps the copy in the same place.

To offer the same link under a team, create a new link under the team and set it up to match. See Setting up a team.
